Alocasia × chantrieri is a Victorian-era hybrid bred by the Chantrier Freres nursery in Mortefontaine, France, first described and exhibited in 1887. It is a cross of Alocasia cuprea and Alocasia sanderiana, combining cuprea's metallic dark green-to-bronze-purple leaf sheen with sanderiana's undulating, ovate-cordate leaf shape. New growth often emerges bluish, with deep red-purple leaf undersides and pink-toned petioles.
