Alocasia x portora, also sold as 'Emerald Isle', is a hybrid bred by LariAnn Garner of Aroidia Research, crossing Alocasia odora (seed parent) and Alocasia portei (pollen parent). It is a massive, upright elephant-ear with glossy, ruffled, heart-to-arrowhead leaves 3-5 ft long on sturdy purple-tinged petioles, reaching 6-8 ft (occasionally to 12 ft) tall at maturity. The common commercial form has green leaves and veins; a rarer maroon-red form ('Portora Red') also exists.
