Alocasia 'Maharani', also sold as 'Grey Dragon', is a hybrid cultivar bred by aroid botanist Peter Boyce at Malesiana Tropicals around 2009, crossing Alocasia reginula and Alocasia melo. It has thick, leathery, matte silvery-grey leaves with a bumpy, quilted texture reminiscent of cracked eggshell, deep sunken veins, and undersides that shift from green to deep red-purple with maturity. A compact 'jewel Alocasia', it typically stays under 14 in (35 cm) tall.
