Alocasia 'pseudosanderiana', widely sold as "Sanderiana Pseudo" or "Pseudo-sanderiana", is a Philippine cultigen commonly traded as a larger-growing look-alike of true Alocasia sanderiana. Despite being common in cultivation, it has no formally accepted scientific name (the epithet is a nomen nudum) and has never been documented flowering. A proposed origin as a natural hybrid of A. heterophylla x A. sanderiana was floated in a 1984 study, then rejected by its own author. Compared to true sanderiana, it typically carries far more leaves (7-10+ vs. 1-3), more prominent veining, larger leaves, and a distinctly striped petiole base. Its precise identity and native status remain unresolved.
